Triumph from Tragedy: the Alluvione days

Recalling epic flood heroics Triumph from Tragedy is the title of a book edited by Polistampa: the collection of pictures that David Lees took for «LIFE» during the Alluvione di Firenze days. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the flood which struck Florence on November 4th 1966 Polistampa publishes this book, with photographs, which also reveal the artist’s sensibility, still amaze and stir up emotions supposed to have been overcome by now. Hence they offer us, in the distressing reportage of the disaster, also the Florentines’ reaction who managed to pull themselves together in order to return Florence to its original beauty.
