È il catalogo di un’importante esposizione allestita a Roma (Mercati di Traiano - Museo dei Fori Imperiali) dal 27 settembre al 30 novembre 2014.
“Le mie sculture si devono inserire con rispetto nel maestoso contesto dei Mercati di Traiano, senza disturbare, assecondando e sottolineando la bellezza dei suoi ritmi spaziali ed architettonici, di volta in volta espansi con un andamento orizzontale o verticale”. Con questi obiettivi Park Eun Sun, artista coreano che da oltre vent’anni si è stabilito in Italia, ha dato vita all’innesto esemplare delle proprie sculture nel Grande Emiciclo, lungo la via Biberatica e nel Giardino delle Milizie dei Mercati di Traiano-Museo dei Fori Imperiali, a Roma.
Come scrive Gabriele Simongini, curatore della mostra, “le sculture di Park Eun Sun racchiudono in sé sia la possibilità dell’integrità plastica volta verso una permanenza dell’opera in tempi lunghissimi che il suo contrario, l’evenienza della rovina e della fine. Così il dialogo fra costruzione e distruzione della forma, fra levigata compiutezza e traumatica frattura, evoca pure l’ascesa e il crollo delle grandi civiltà. Anche grazie a questa sorta di concretizzazione plastica del celebre sic transit gloria mundi le sculture dell’artista coreano stabiliscono un’osmosi così empatica con le maestose rovine dei Mercati di Traiano”.
“My sculptures are to be respectfully inserted within the majestic settings of the Trajan’s Market, without disturbing, but supporting and emphasizing the beauty of its architectural rhythms and of its spaces, expanded from time to time with horizontal or vertical pace”.
With these objectives, Park Eun Sun, Korean artist that has been living in Italy for over twenty years, has created an exemplary graft of his sculptures into the Great Hemicycle, along the Via Biberatica and in the Militia Garden of the Trajan’s Market – Imperial Fora Museum, in Rome.
As Gabriele Simongini, curator of the exhibition, writes: “sculptures by Park Eun Sun encapsulate both the possibility of plastic integrity – aimed at the permanence of the artwork in a very long time – and its opposite, that is the arrival of end and ruin. So the dialogue between construction and destruction of the form, between smooth completion and traumatic fracture, also evokes the rise and fall of great civilizations. Also thanks to this objectification of the famous sic transit gloria mundi, Park Eun Sun’s sculptures establish a sympathetic osmosis with the majestic ruins of Trajan’s Market”.
