The volume reproduces the works exhibited during summer 2014 at the Ecumenical Center of Art and Spirituality “Mount Tabor”, located in the villa “Via Sacra” in Barga (Lucca, Italy).
The works of Filippo Rossi and Susan Kanaga deal with the theme of light, one of the main metaphors of Christian salvation. Both artists are inspired by their Christian faith, giving life to elaborate layers of materials that are traditional and innovative at the same time. Their artworks are made of abstract shapes and bright colors whose surface recalls the work of Medieval masters.
“The keywords”, Timothy Verdon writes, “are light, life, love and joy. Neither Rossi nor Kanaga express themselves in a figurative style, because these four words belong to a reign where women and men no longer see God as in a mirror, according to the flesh, but spiritually, as God Himself sees”.
