Ces photographies m’ont impressionné. J’y ai perçu un frémissement, je les ai vues habitées, hantées, par quelque chose en leur profondeur d’aussi omniprésent qu’invisible, et qui me demandait de le mieux comprendre. Cependant que le projet dont elles étaient la conséquence me paraissait éclairer une des forces en jeu dans ce grand art que devient quelquefois le travail du photographe. […] La photographie «en mouvement», celle dont Lucio Trizzino faisait dans le train une recherche de soi, une quête proustienne de l’origine, devient dans la rue une expérience de l’autre, de son besoin, de ses aspirations légitimes. Et si ainsi elle peut aider à la conjonction de deux rêves pour un éclairement réciproque qui en fera de l’action, quelle chance qui lui donne une raison d’être, disons mieux, qui la place au plus vif du devenir de l’esprit.

Queste fotografie mi hanno impressionato. In esse ho avvertito un fremito, le ho viste abitate, animate da qualcosa nel loro profondo di onnipresente quanto d’invisibile e che mi chiedeva di comprenderle meglio. Mentre il progetto del quale erano la conseguenza mi pareva illuminasse una delle forze in gioco in quella grande arte che talvolta diventa il lavoro del fotografo. […] La fotografia «in movimento», quella della quale Lucio Trizzino faceva in treno una ricerca di sé, un’indagine proustiana dell’origine, diventa nella strada un’esperienza dell’altro, del suo bisogno, delle sue legittime aspirazioni. E così può favorire la congiunzione di due sogni per un chiarimento reciproco che ne farà azione, quale chance che le dà una ragione d’essere, diciamo meglio, che la pone nel più vivo divenire dello spirito.

These photographs impressed me. I sensed a stirring in them; I saw them inhabited, haunted by something in their depths both omnipresent and invisible, which was calling on me to understand them better. At the same time, I felt that the project that had given birth to them shed light on one of the forces present in the consummate art that the photographer’s work sometimes becomes. […] In Lucio Trizzino’s pictures taken in trains, photography “in motion” becomes a search for self, a Proustian quest for origins. In the street, such photography becomes an experience of others, of their needs, of their legitimate aspirations. And if it can help bring together two dreams in this way, so as to shed reciprocal light that will result in action, how fortunate that this encounter gives photography a raison d’être or — more accurately — that it puts photography at the living core of the spirit’s journey.
