Catalogo della mostra internazionale d’arte tessile in feltro (Museo del Tessuto di Prato, 7 maggio - 7 luglio 2010. Sarà poi allestita in diverse sedi in Germania e Regno Unito). Il tema, molto attuale, del cambiamento climatico e della necessità di rivedere modelli economici basati sullo sfruttamento di risorse non rinnovabili, viene interpretato attraverso un materiale poco conosciuto ma estremamente versatile: il feltro. Prodotto a partire da lana ovina, è questo un materiale antico e ricco di rimandi culturali; si presta alla realizzazione di veli impalpabili come di solidi oggetti tridimensionali, si lascia plasmare e accetta di fondersi con altri materiali, senza smettere di essere un tessuto e quindi di poter esser tagliato, cucito, ricamato. Non mediato da processi di filatura, tessitura, rifinizione, il feltro ha una sua qualità originaria, una essenza atavica che lo rendono adatto a tradurre in arte visiva un tema non facile come quello del cambiamento e della relazione uomo-natura. I 50 lavori esposti (grandi opere da parete, installazioni, sculture tessili di piccolo formato, mixed media) pongono interrogativi, denunciano la distruzione dell’ecosistema, esprimono fiducia nel potere rigenerativo della natura, suggeriscono soluzioni. Sono stati selezionati tra 180 opere partecipanti a un concorso organizzato da Coordinamento Tessitori, Filz-Netwerk e.V. (associazione di artisti del feltro in ambito germanofono), IFA (Associazione Internazionale Feltrai). “I partecipanti arrivano da: Germania, Spagna, Olanda, Danimarca, Austria, Gran Bretagna, Australia, Nuova Zelanda, Canada, Italia, Romania e Stati Uniti. Facevano parte della giuria Beate Bosset, feltraia ed ex editrice della rivista per il feltro FUN, Beatrijs Sterck, responsabile di ETN ed editrice di TextilForum, la britannica Annie Sherburne e le italiane Lydia Predominato e Daniela Degl’Innocenti. Non sono stati conferiti premi.” (Antje Soléau).

Das Filz-Netzwerk e.V. – ein privater gemeinnütziger Zusammenschluss von künstlerisch arbeitenden FilzerInnen im deutschsprachigen Raum – hat in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Coordinamento Tessitori aus Italien und der IFA (International Feltmakers Association) zu einer internationalen Wettbewerbsausstellung eingeladen. Zu dem gemeinsamen Thema Das Klima wandelt sich wurden insgesamt 180 Arbeiten aus aller Welt einereicht, aus denen eine ebenfalls international besetzte Jury 50 Objekte für die Wanderausstellung auswählte. Die TeilnehmerInnen kommen aus Deutschland, Spanien, den Niederlanden, Dänemark, Österreich, Großbritannien, Australien, Neuseeland, Kanada, Italien, Rumänien und USA. Der Jury gehörten Beate Bossert (Filzerin und ehemalige Herausgeberin des Filz-Magazins FUN), Beatrijs Sterck (ETN und Herausgeberin des TextilForums), die Britin Annie Sherburne sowie die Italienerinnen Lydia Predominato und Daniela Degl’Innocenti an. Coordinamento Tessitori from Italy, in conjunction with Filz-Netzwerk e.V. – a private non-profit making organisation of German speaking felt artists – and the International Feltmakers Association (IFA) has issued an invitation to an international juried exhibition. A total of 180 pieces on the theme of The Climate is Changing were submitted from all over the world, from which an international jury selected 50 works for the touring exhibition. The participants came from Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Italy, USA and Romania. The Jury was made up of Beate Bossert (feltmaker and former editor of the felt magazine FUN), Beatrijs Sterck (ETN and editor of TextilForum), from Great Britain Annie Sherburne and from Italy Lydia Predominato and Daniela Degl’Innocenti. Prizes were not awarded (Antje Soléau).
