Ampi saggi ripercorrono la storia delle ventole a partire dagli antichi Egizi fino a giungere ai nostri tempi, illustrandone anche il ruolo fra réclame e souvenir. Oltre alle caratteristiche ventole italiane in paglia, sono moltissime quelle etniche commentate o descritte mediante foto, schemi, disegni. La sezione più importante è il catalogo, dove sono esaminati 66 modelli in ampie schede illustrate, descrivendone il paese di origine, l’epoca di realizzazione, dimensioni e collocazione attuale. A ogni ventaglio è poi dedicato un commento e alcune foto, nei casi più significativi a colori.

This volume examines and presents a deliberate selection of fans created in various nations and on various continents which belong today to the collection of Corinne Kraft Bernabei and Luisa Moradei.
Extensive essays outline the history of fans from Ancient Egypt to today, illustrating its roles from advertisement to souvenir. Besides the characteristic Italian straw fans, there are many ethnic ones described or commented on through photos, diagrams and drawings.
The most important part is the catalog, where 66 modles are examined with illustrated and well-detailed placards, describing the country of origin, when they were made, dimensions and current locations. Every fan has a few comments and a series of pictures, some in color for the most beautiful of the collection.
