Acts of the congress held in Florence, Gabinetto Vieusseux, Palazzo Strozzi, 14th May 2003.

The approach to Blixen’s works through the pictorial art was the most natural starting point of the congress: sometimes Blixen mentions exact paintings or she makes us guess them; sometimes they are deformed or reduced to fragments used by the writer in a very personal collage. The aim of the curators was, however, to make painting acting as a stone thrown in the water, that is to say irradiating around concentric circles towards other figurative aspects of the Blixen’s works: from her inter-typological use and abuse of the paintings as a peculiar literary technique, to her figurative language rich in metaphors and allegories; from her color symbolism, the use of tableauxand scenic episodes, or imagines of the memory that form identity, even sexual, to the transposition of her stories into cinematographic imagines.

The book includes the abstracts of the interventions and a bibliography.
