Questo libretto ripercorre brevemente la storia degli zoccoli tracciando un itinerario attraverso le usanze e le tradizioni dei popoli che ne hanno fatto uso e, nello stesso tempo, rifacendosi ad un pragmatismo che si contrappone ad una cultura di crociana memoria che separava le virtù intellettuali da quelle del fare, impartisce le istruzioni necessarie per fabbricare un paio di zoccoli. È un piccolo contributo che rende omaggio alla civiltà trasferendo alle nuove generazioni la capacità del fare, essenza dello spirito creatore dell’uomo.

This is a manual for making clogs; it includes the history of clogs and the study of their structure and form, according to their various uses and the needs and customs either in various parts of the world and over a certain period of time.
The volume briefly covers the history of clogs and, at the same time, imparts the necessary instructions for making a pair of clogs. It ideally returns to a pragmatism which contrasts with a culture that separates the intellectual virtues from those related to handicrafts. This is a small contribution which pays its tribute to the civilization and transfers to the new generations the ability of making things, the essence of man’s creative spirit.
