This project was developped and coordinated by Giò Carbone for Le Arti Orafe - Scuola Internazionale di oreficeria in Firenze (International School of Goldsmith’s Art in Florence)

The “Cellini” project is a pilot project co-financed by the European Commission - Directorate General for the Education and Culture, at the Operative Program “Leonardo Da Vinci”. The main aim of this project was the creation of a multilingual dictionary of terms and concepts dealing with goldsmith and jewelry art, a useful tool of work and research.
The dictionary, composed of the seven languages of the seven partner countries of the project, was born in the PLE (European Parliament of goldsmith’s art schools), a European Association formed of 18 training institutions, founded in France in 1993.
The schools taking part in the PLE meet every year in a different country of the European Union; these meetings represent an occasion to talk about the training and educational systems of each country, and about the possible ways of cooperating with each other. Born in this context, this dictionary is aimed at facilitating communication and exchange of information in a specific sector that often uses particular terms, difficult to translate in other languages.
