Anne E. Bahrenburg Barbetti
Anne E. Bahrenburg Barbetti è nata a New York il 25 gennaio 1939. Si è diplomata in Storia dell’Arte negli Stati Uniti e poi ha conseguito la laurea a Firenze dove, trasferita negli anni Sessanta, è diventata guida turistica. Ha lavorato inoltre nel campo dei ricami fiorentini occupandosi di import-export e quindi, esperta di storia del ricamo e del tessuto, ha svolto attività scientifica e di ricerca nell’ambito della Cattedra di Storia della Miniatura e delle Arti Minori della Facoltà di Lettere dell’Università di Firenze. È stata un membro attivo dell’American International League of Florence (AILO) e per molti anni è stata consigliere della Società Italiana dell’Iris oltre che direttrice del Concorso internazionale dell’Iris. Era anche membro delle Quirky Quilters, un gruppo che si riunisce presso la St. James Episcopal Church per lavorare con tessuti e ricami. Il parato di San Giovanni Battista (Polistampa, 2023) è l’ultimo frutto della sua esperienza terrena, conclusasi il 13 novembre del 2022.
Anne E. Bahrenburg Barbetti was born in New York on 25 January 1939. She graduated in Art History in the United States and then graduated in Florence where, moved in the sixties, she became a tour guide. She also worked in the field of Florentine embroidery dealing with import-export and then, expert in the history of embroidery and fabric, has carried out scientific and research activities within the Chair of the History of Miniature and Minor Arts of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Florence. She has been an active member of the American International League of Florence (AILO) and for many years has been a board member of the Italian Iris Society as well as director of the International Iris Competition. She was also a member of the Quirky Quilters, a group that meets at St. James Episcopal Church to work with fabrics and embroidery. The Saint John the Baptist Parade (Polistampa, 2023) is the last fruit of his earthly experience, which ended on 13 November 2022.
