Pier Luigi Esclapon de Villeneuve (1928-1998) meets advertising photography in the late 1960s, during the Italian “economic boom”. We are in the years of the advertising show “Carosello” when he meets Pico Tamburini and Tam Fagiuoli, respectively founder and photographer of the advertising agency Leader. From the first one he learns the steps that lead to the creation of a good advertising campaign; from the second, the use of the optical bench. Since then and until the 1980s, Esclapon de Villeneuve’s memorable shots have helped to raise awareness and spread on the domestic market the most important consumer products made by Tuscan companies.
