Davide Montino  (b. 1973 in Cuneo) graduated in Contemporary History from the University of Genoa in 1998. In 2004 he was awarded of a PhD at the same university; since 2005 he has been a researcher of History of Education at the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Genoa, where he lectures in the History of educational Institutions. Since 2000 he has been a member of the Ligurian Archive for Popular Writing Working Group (ALSP), where he has been dealing with educational and laboratory activities as part of the course of Contemporary History at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Genoa. He is a member of the editorial staff of "BalbiSei – Ricerche Storiche Genovesi", as well as of the international History of Education & Children’s Literature review.
He specialises in the history of school, education and childhood, with particular reference to the practice of reading and writing in the contemporary era. As well as having written a number of essays and articles, he is the author of: Le parole educate. Libri e quaderni tra fascismo e Repubblica (Milano 2005), Bambini, penna e calamaio. Esempi di scritture infantili e scolastiche in età contemporanea (Roma 2007), while he and G. Gabrielli have co-edited La scuola fascista: istituzioni, parole d’ordine e luoghi dell’immaginario (Verona 2009).
