Bruno Bearzi
Bronzista e restauratore fiorentino, Bruno Bearzi è morto a
Firenze il 26 dicembre 1983.
Sul marmo del cimitero di Soffiano è scritto “Maestro
moderno dell’arte antica”, frase con cui lo scrittore Giovanni Papini lo aveva
dipinto nel dedicargli un corposo studio su Michelangelo.
Tra gli artisti contemporanei per i quali ha fuso opere
compaiono Paul Manship di New York, Carl Milles di Detroit, Waino Aaltonen di
Helsinki, Mary Sheridan di Miami, Tex Schiwetz di Blomfield. Nell’arco della
sua carriera Bearzi è stato, dal ’44 al ’61 vicepresidente dell’associazione
industriali di Firenze, dal ’63 membro dell’“American Chamber of Commerce” e,
dal ’65 membro onorario dell’“American Institute of Architects”.

On Soffiano’s
cemetery marble is written “Modern maestro of antic art”, a phrase with which
the writer Giovanni Papini had depicted him when dedicating an extensive study
on Michelangelo.
Among the
contemporary artists for whom he has cast works include Paul Manship of New
York, Carl Milles of Detroit, Waino Aaltonen of Helsinki, Mary Sheridan of
Miami and Tex Schiwetz of Blomfield. Throughout his career Bearzi was, from
1944 to 1961, vice-president of the Industrial Association of Florence, since
'63 member of the 'American Chamber of Commerce' and since '65 honorary member
of the 'American Institute of Architects'.
