A specialist in Italian Renaissance and Baroque art, Chappell is currently writing a catalog of the drawings by the sixteenth-century painter and architect Lodovico Cigoli. An article on a newly discovered oil sketch by Fabrizio Boschi and studies on the identification of several early collectors of drawings are in progress. Chappell is working on an exhibition sponsored by the Uffizi Gallery, Cigoli e I suoi amici, that will be inaugurated in Figline, near Florence, in 2008. He is on the organizing committee and an author for the exhibition sponsored by the University of Pisa entitled Galileo e le arti that is scheduled for 2009. Although dividing time between here and Italy, he is glad to hear from students and about their status, plans and accomplishments.
