Valentina Gensini

Art historian and curator, after graduating in Florence, she has attended a specialization in Contemporary Art History at the University of Siena, and she has participated in the international seminary on museology at Ecole du Louvre. She has published essays on art and criticism of the 19th and 20th centuries and has participated in numerous conferences on the subject. By 2005 her work focused in museums, with an assignement at the Superintendence of Florence. At Palazzo Pitti, she has taught Cataloging in a EU-found training course and she has held seminars on aspects of museology and art history intended for undergraduates and postgraduates. From 2007 to 2010, thanks to the scholarship of the Ambron Castiglione Foundation, she has worked at the studio of the namesake collection donated to the Galleria of Modern Art of Palazzo Pitti.
Her interests focus on cultural planning in connection with territory and on the analysis of artistic and curatorial training - with a particular attention on the system of residences, and on education and Museum design, holding some seminaries at the school of specialization in Art History of the University of Siena and at Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence. She has organized the format Sopralluoghi. Indagione nel contemporaneo in Florence in the period 2006-2008. In 2007-2009 she has been consultant of contemporary visual culture educational and mediation at Palazzo Strozzi Foundation in Florence, with the role of mediator for the Centre of Cultura Contemporanea Strozzina, where in 2009 she has contributed at the care of the international project Green Platform. Arte Ecologia Sostenibilità. In the same year she has curated the Biennale of Monza.
In 2010 she has been a member of the Cultural Commission for the selection of projects of Estate Fiorentina of Florence. Current commissions aimed at the field of education and training, she is co-manager of a postgraduate class organized by the province of Grosseto in collaboration with the School of specialization in Art History of university of Siena, intended to train mediators involved in contemporary art projects. During the 2010-2011 academic year, she has taught Contemporary Art History at the European Institute of Design.
