Ritenuto Osservatorio Astronomico di Galileo Galilei sulla base di una radicata leggenda popolare, l’edificio divenne nell’Ottocento un luogo dedicato alla memoria dell’illustre scienziato. L’attuale aspetto di castello neo-gotico si deve all’intervento dell’antiquario Stefano Bardini. Nel ripercorrere la storia e le vicende architettoniche di questa antica dimora, il volume illustra due interessanti episodi di collezionismo e restauro tra Ottocento e Novecento.

Considered to be the astronomical observatory of Galileo Galilei on the basis of a deep-rooted popular legend, in the nineteenth century the building became a place dedicated to the memory of the illustrious scientist. The book retraces the history and architectural events of this ancient residence.
