Il Sustainable Destination Plan for the Ancient Cities of Upper Myanmar: Innwa, Amarapura, Sagaing, Mingun, Mandalay (Piano sostenibile per le antiche città dell’alto Myanmar) è il risultato di un progetto di cooperazione tra l’Università di Firenze e il ministero del settore alberghiero e del turismo della Repubblica dell’Unione di Myanmar. Il progetto, avviato nel 2015, è supportato finanziariamente dalla Direzione Generale per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (DGCS) del ministero italiano degli Affari esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale.
La recente apertura del Myanmar verso il turismo internazionale crea importanti opportunità per la crescita economica. In accordo con Tourism Master Plan 2013-2020, questo piano si pone l’obiettivo di promuovere il turismo nella regione, nella cornice di una strategia di più ampio respiro che punti a favorire uno sviluppo sostenibile, equilibrato e responsabile, assicurando allo stesso tempo la più profonda considerazione degli specifici aspetti geografici, culturali e sociali dell’area, all’interno di un approccio multidisciplinare.

The Sustainable Destination Plan for the Ancient Cities of Upper Myanmar: Innwa, Amarapura, Sagaing, Mingun, Mandalay is the result of a cooperation project between the University of Florence and the Ministry of Hotels & Tourismo of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The project, set in motion in 2015, was financially supported by the Direzione Generale per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (DGCS) of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Myanmar’s recent opening to international tourism creates important opportunities for economic growth. In accordance with the Myanmar Tourism Master Plan 2013-2020, this plan aims at promoting tourism in the district in the framework of a more general strategy aimed at favoring a sustainable, equitable and responsible development, ensuring at the same time the deepest consideration of the specific geographic, cultural and social aspects of the area within a multidisciplinary approach.
