Catalogo della mostra allestita a Sesto Fiorentino dal 30 novembre 2014 al 18 gennaio 2015, il volume propone un’indagine sull’incisione simbolista mitteleuropea attraverso una selezione consistente di opere del più grande artista tedesco di questo periodo: Max Klinger. Alle sue grafiche, cariche di suggestioni simboliche e surreali, si aggiungono quelle di numerosi artisti che furono ispirati dal suo stile e dai suoi enunciati teorici sull’arte dell’incisione. Chiude la pubblicazione una nutrita raccolta di ex libris realizzati nella stessa epoca.
“Una grande occasione”, scrive Lorenzo Zambini, “per esplorare l’arte e l’influenza che Klinger suscitò nella grafica ma anche nel linguaggio simbolico, nell’epoca in cui l’attenzione alla sfera onirica e all’approccio scientifico al mondo dei sogni stavano prendendo sempre più importanza”.

Catalog of the exhibition held in Sesto Fiorentino from November 30th, 2014 to January 18th, 2015, the volume is a research on Central European Symbolist engraving through a large selection of works by the greatest German artist of this period: Max Klinger. To his graphics, full of symbolic and surreal suggestions, are added those of many artists who were inspired by his style and by his theories on the art of engraving. The volume is completed by a large collection of bookplates of the same period.
