The policy of Tuscan Ministries of Foreign Affairs in the government of the Reign and of the Republic of Italy is here traced by the essays of Ferdinando Salleo on Francesco Guicciardini, Luciano Monzali on Sidney Sonnino, Ennio Di Nolfo on Costanzo Ciano, Bruna Bagnato on Carlo Sforza and Leopoldo Nuti on Amintore Fanfani. The essays document the main lines of the foreign policy of relevant Tuscan personalities, from the beginning of the 20th century to the Sixties. As the editor of the volume writes, it is “a contribution for a synthetic reconstruction of aspects, circumstances and guidelines of foreign politics in the long period, from the years of development of our industrial base to the years of the second after-war - when the connection between foreign and domestic policy was very tight -, from the Reconstruction to the economic boom, from the Peace Treaty to the ’pacific coexistence’”.
The volume is part of the initiatives promoted by the President of the Regional Council of Tuscany, Alberto Monaci, in the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification.
