The private letters of Raffaello Ramat (1905-1967), preserved in Florence’s National Central Library, allow us to retrace his correspondence with culturally and politically relevant personalities, especially between 1930 and 1950. The volume gives the opportunity of an in-depth understanding  of this great literary critic, man of culture and civic engagement, analyzing his personal history against the background of Italy’s public events. The choice of the correspondents – Luigi Russo (1892-1961), Angelo Barile (1888-1967), Mario Delle Piane (1914-1989) e Tommaso Fiore (1884-1973) – has been determined, as the editor writes, “by the intention of providing a detailed framework of Ramat’s main interests: poetry, literary criticism, political activism and, as constant value, friendship.
Raffaello Ramat’ sons, Silvio and Paolo, have contributed to this edition.
