Catalog of the exhibition held in Florence during the summer 2009. It reproduces over 50 works comprehending paintings and drawings. “Symbols that are light and airy, or else complex and detailed, and at times, primitive and somewhat aggressive: the work of De Masi tells of the moodiness of everyday life, intently observed, synthesised and filtered through the feeling of the moment, seen and documented through the discontinuity of subtle emotions. [...] Familiar faces of friends and relatives, but also the anonymous strangers on the commuter train are quickly sketched with a pencil, often embellished with a few hints of color, perhaps annotated for future elaboration. This is a sort of diary of facial features, expressions, images and sensations that would otherwise be lost, were they not fixed in place and annotated in this workbook. This was the method used by Leonard to invite to the studio those whom he intended to paint” (Rosella Alberti).
