È il catalogo della mostra allestita presso il Museo d’Arte Contemporanea e del Novecento di Monsummano Terme (Pistoia) dall’11 al 26 ottobre 2008.
Il percorso critico è affidato a Giacomo Bazzani, curatore della quarta edizione del progetto Networking, che inquadra l’opera di Leone Contini in un panorama di artisti di fama internazionale che criticano e demoliscono gli esiti di una stratificazione sociale nata all’interno degli attuali processi economici. Il mondo codificato dell’economia e del mercato si presenta come mondo a sé, come un assoluto che inevitabilmente si contrappone all’uomo e che permane anche e soprattutto perché respinge l’uomo fuori dal mondo, creando schiere sempre più numerose di emarginati, concentrando benessere e ricchezza in una minoranza che vive e agisce in modo sempre più non umano. Questo mondo a sé, ritenuto inevitabile e non modificabile, come fosse frutto della natura e non della tecnica, viene sempre più smascherato dagli artisti contemporanei, soprattutto nel campo della video art. L’arte contemporanea, con il suo carattere metamorfico, instabile, precario e, a volte, effimero si pone sempre più il compito di produrre una visione altra, che scandagli le cose e il mondo nella loro labilità, nel loro aspetto transeunte, facendo emergere la complessità della realtà, il capovolgimento degli eventi, l’unità profonda tra uomo e natura ricondotta al processo di continua trasformazione.

The direction of the discourse is entrusted to Giacomo Bazzani, Curator of the 4th edition of the Networking Project, who frames the work of Leone Contini in a panorama of artists of international fame who criticize and demolish the results of a social stratification born through current economic court proceedings. The cryptic world of economics and the business market presents itself as a world apart, something absolute and solid that inevitably sets itself against man and rejects him from this world, creating ever-growing ostracized groups and concentrating wellbeing and wealth into a minority that lives and acts in less and less human ways. This world apart, considered inevitable and unchangeable as if it were a fruit of nature and not of technology, is being unmasked little by little by contemporary artists, mostly in the field of video art. Contemporary art, with its ephemeral, precarious and changeable characteristics, gives itself the task of creating a new vision, one that delves into things, the world, and the impermanence of the two. It brings to light the complexity of reality and the profound unity between man and nature through a process of contiunous transformation.
