Nadia Berkani, a Franco-Algerian visual artist, spent two years in Tuscany to put the finishing touches on her new photography project dedicated to exile. There followed two exhibitions, the first at the Istituto Francese di Firenze between October 7th and November 14th, 2008, and the second at Palazzo Piccolomini di Pienza in Siena between April 4th and May 3rd, 2009. This was born this volume, with photos by Berkani and text by Antonio Natali (La libertà melanconica di Nadia Berkani/La liberté melancolique de Nadia Berkani/The Melancholy Freedom of Nadia Berkani) and Bernard Rémy (Un semplice evento/A simple event).
