Catalog of the exhibition-itinerary created between June and November 2006 in the territory of Empolese Valdelsa in the following locations: Museo di Santa Verdiana a Castelfiorentino, Museo di Arte Sacra di Certaldo, Collezione della Collegiata di Empoli, Museo Civico di Fucecchio, Complesso della Gerusalemme di San Vivaldo a Monatione, Museo di Arte Sacra di Montespertoli.
That which is described, anche attraverso le numerosissime riproduzioni dei capolavori esposti, is a valley of treasures pertinent to the historical and artistic patrimony of a territory and of the various sites that meet idyllically in an area traversed by via Francigena. “The exhibition is innovative– writes Edoardo Speranza – because it offers a comparison between the masterworks conserved in these ’big little museums’ with their counterparts in Florence, Rome and Pisa. In the museun of Empoli, it is impressive to see the pairing of The Annunciation of Botticelli in the Uffizi with their local version, The Annunciation of Francesco Botticini. Besides this, in Montespertoli there is the local Madonna With Child by Filippo Lippi that is placed next to her splended sister who has temporarily left the sumptuous halls of the Palazzo Medici Riccardi."
