Claudio Paolini , art historian with master degree at University of Florence, is expert in issues concerning observation and restoration, as well as in history of art technique. In these subjects matters he has held averse specific courses, seminary and lectures in collaboration with the University of Florence and of Milan, e Georgetown University, the Gabinetto Viesseux, the Educational Division of the Utfizi Gallery and the expert Herbert Percy Horne Foundation. He is the director of the Research and Documentation Centre of the Istituto per l’Arte e il Restauro Palazzo Spinelli in Florence, and was the technical director of Artis, a project that is promoted by the European Commission (INFO 2000) and developed with the aim of safeguarding art techniques and other kinds of documentation concerning art conservation. He is also the scientific director of Argos, the project designed to create a multilingual Data Base on line aimed to standardise the different languages in the field of art techniques and in art conservation. He has written several specialist publications and was the editor of Art on Art, the travelling exhibition that, sponsered by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and by the Ministry of Education, was successfully displayed in many Countries in order to spread out the conservation problems.
