Alessandra Baroni Vannucci, è storica dell’arte e musicista e accademica d’onore delle Arti del Disegno. Ha conseguito il PhD presso l’Università di Utrecht, è autrice e curatrice di numerosi studi e mostre sull’arte toscana e fiorentina del tardo Rinascimento riguardanti, in particolare, Giorgio Vasari e la cerchia di artisti dell’Accademia del Disegno. La sua monografia su Jan van der Straet, Johannes Stradanus, ha ricevuto la menzione d’onore del Premio Salimbeni 1998. Presso il Metropolitan Museum di New York, come Andrew W. Mellon Fellow ha condotto una ricerca sulla relazione tra Italia e Fiandre nella produzione di grafica della seconda metà del Cinquecento. Curatrice della Collezione Bartolini della Fraternita dei Laici di Arezzo, è docente di storia dell’arte presso l’Università di Rochester e Direttrice del Progetto The Paper Project sostenuto da The Getty Foundation.
After obtaining her PhD in art history from the University
of Utrecht, The Netherlands Alessandra Baroni—a native of Arezzo, Italy—
continued her specialization in Old Masters Drawings and Prints. She began to
teach art history in 2001 at the University of Siena, Italy. In 2008-2009
Alessandra was a senior Andrew W. Mellon fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of
Art in New York City. In 2009, she taught art history in several American
academic programs in Italy. In 2010, she became the curator of the Bartolini
Art Collection at the Fraternita dei Laici in Arezzo. Since 2011 she has served
as the art history instructor within the University of Rochester semester program
in Arezzo. In 2018 she has been a Visiting Professor of Italian Art History at
the University of Rochester (MLC). Since 2017 she is the Program Director of
the International Summer Course on Printmaking and Print collecting. She is
Accademico delle Arti del Disegno in Florence and team leader of the project on
the reconstruction of the scattered collection of Giorgio Vasari, the so-called
Book of Drawings (14th-16th centuries).Among her numerous publications on late
Renaissance art is her monographic work on Jan Van Der Straet, Johannes
Stradanus published in Rome (1997) and the book on the Medicean albums of
prints in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence (2011). She is preparing her new book, the English
edition of “The Ricordanze: the life and work of Giorgio Vasari”.
