Silvio Accame

Silvio Accame (Pietra Ligure, 22 dicembre 1910 - Frascati, 10 novembre 1997), allievo di Gaetano De Sanctis, si laureò in lettere all’Università di Roma. Dal 1948 al 1968 insegnò storia greca all’Università di Napoli e dal 1968 al 1975 storia romana a Roma. 

Dal 1983 al 1991, fu presidente della Pontificia accademia romana di archeologia. Strenuo difensore del metodo storico-filologico, fu autore di importanti saggi sulla storia greca e si interessò anche allo studio della Bibbia.

Silvio Accame (Pietra Ligure, December 22, 1910 - Frascati, November 10, 1997), student of Gaetano De Sanctis, graduated from the University of Rome with a degree in literature. From 1948 to 1968, he teaches Greek history at the University of Naples and from 1968 to 1975, Roman history in Rome.

From 1983 to 1991, he was president of the Pontifical Roman Academy of Archaeology. Strenuous defender of the historical-philological method, he was author of importants essays on Greek history and was also interested on the study of the Bible.
