Stefano Barbolini was born in Florence in 1952. A keen astronomer and member of the Unione Astrofili Italiani, he has carried out a census of the sundials
in the provinces of Florence and Grosseto. He has also dealt with the functional restoration of the sundial of Giuseppe Slop in the “Sala delle Cicogne” of the Specola Museum in Florence (2005), the hole of the gnomon of Santa Maria Novella (2006), the Meridian of Palazzo Pitti made by Vincenzo Viviani (2007) and the Meridian of the Certosa del Galluzzo (2010).
