Maria Grazia Vaccari graduated in 1976 at the University of Lecce. In 1979 she obtained the Postgraduate Degree in History of Medieval and Modern Art at the University of Florence. Since 1984, she is at the service of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities as historian of art. After a short period at the B.A.A.A.S Superintendence of Salerno and Avellino, she has worked for two years at the B.A.S. Superintendence of Brescia Cremona and Mantua (1985-1987). After moving to Florence in 1987 at the Opificio delle Pietre Dure (Workshop of Semi-precious Stones), she has directed for three years the School of restoration. From 2000 to 2010 se has been vice-director of the National Museum of the Bargello. She is now director of the Palazzo Davanzati Museum. She has published many essays on sculpture, especially on terracotta and its conservation.
