Nadia Berkani

Nadia Berkani vive e lavora in Europa. Formatasi nella danza, diplomata alla Scuola di Belle Arti di Lione e al VGIK, Istituto cinematografico di Mosca, insegna all’Università Paris III - Sorbonne nouvelle.

Artista pluridisciplinare, la cui produzione si inscrive all’interno di differenti ambiti, realizza e presenta azioni-performance in cui è fondamentale il ruolo affidato al corpo.

Ha presentato i suoi lavori alla Biennale di Istanbul (1999), al Festival internazionale Ex Teresa Arte Actual, Messico (2002), al Beit Shibani di Damasco, Siria (2005).

Ha ottenuto il Premio fotografico della città di Parigi (2003) ed è stata invitata in residenza artistica presso l’Art Foundation de La Napoule, l’Istituto francese di Istanbul, il Centro culturale francese di Damasco e l’Istituto franco-giapponese di Kansai.

L’artista oggi si interessa soprattutto al legame ell’uomo con le sue origini e la sua storia, nalizzandolo da vari punti di vista, soprattutto etaforici, con particolare attenzione e alle mmagini dell’esilio e della migrazione.

Multidisciplinary artist, whose production is inscribed within different spheres, realises and presents actions-performances in which the role entrusted to the body is fundamental.

She has presented her works at the Istambul Biennial (1999), at the international festival Ex Teresa Arte Actual, Mexico (2002), at the Beit Shibani of Damascus, Siria (2005).

She was awarded the Photographic Prize of the City of Paris (2003) and was invited for artistic residencies at the Art Foundation of La Napoule, the French Institute in Istanbul, the French Cultural Centre in Damascus and the French-Japanese Institute in Kansai.

Today, the artist is mainly interested in the link between man and his origins and history, nalysing it from various viewpoints, especially hetaphoric ones, with a focus on the images of exile and migration.
