Giotto at Santa Croce
a cura di Ludovica Sebregondi

This publication explains all Giotto’s masterpieces that are present in the Church and in the Museum of Santa Croce in Florence. Today the only remnants of Giotto’s work for the Franciscan church are the wall paintings in Bardi’s and Peruzzi’s chapels, the polyptych in Baroncelli’s chapel, and the fragments of a stained glass window, all examples of different techniques.
The great novelty of Giotto’s art is here expounded, and all the works present in Santa Croce are analyzed with preciseness and the aid of high quality color reproductions; in addition there is a useful plan of the church where the position of Giotto’s marvels is indicated.
The volume offers different readings: an effective guide to the visitors of Santa Croce, it is at the same time a scientific instrument for the art scholars.
